These pulled pork sandwiches are a crowd-pleaser for any occasion. The pork is cooked low and slow in a tangy and smoky sauce, until it's tender and shreddable. You can serve it on soft buns with coleslaw, pickles, and your favorite barbecue sauce. This recipe is easy to make with a slow cooker, and you can also freeze the leftovers for later.

INGREDIENTS

  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • 4 pounds boneless pork shoulder, trimmed of excess fat
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
  • 10 hamburger buns
  • Coleslaw, pickles, and barbecue sauce, for serving

PREPARATION

  1. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cumin. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork, coating it well.
  2. Place the pork in a 6-quart slow cooker. Pour the vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke over the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is very tender.
  3. Transfer the pork to a cutting board and let it rest for 10 minutes. Shred the pork with two forks, discarding any fat. Return the pork to the slow cooker and toss with the juices.
  4. Serve the pulled pork on buns with coleslaw, pickles, and barbecue sauce. 😋
